Live D7 Site

Hi Guys,

I have a question about running a LIVE D7 site. When running on 2 dedicated servers with following specs:

Intel® Core™ i7-975 Quadcore incl. Hyper-Threading Technology

RAM 12 GB DDR3 RAM

Hard discs 3 x 1500 GB SATA-II HDD (Software-RAID 5)

With Spy module OFF, Files, Sounds, Videos OFF (Only allowe embded)...

Should it be a problem to run 2000-3000 users simultaneously?

I would like to hear if any of you have bigger sites (500+ users) out there that are running live what your experiences are etc..

THANKS!

Hmmm. I would be quite surprised to hear anyone here that has a site with that many simultaneous users.

I know quite a few who have over three thousand members, constantly online, too.

It's a shame that they all like to say "I'll tell you later," though.

It's an inside joke, concerning those who have chosen to use fake profiles over actually gaining real members.

To be honest, your question is difficult for myself to answer, as no one has ever reached anywhere near those numbers before (nor do I honestly expect anyone to, ever). With some of the more resource-intensive modules disabled, all should work without problem, but remember that you will still find very heavy usage if such a presence finds itself on your web site.

Yes, but not what I need :) I am hoping that someone has a site with at least 1000 users online at the same time, just to find out how that's working for him / her

I'd like to see a site too with 1,000 members online at the same time along with its server specs! :D

So many people on these forums, but noone seems to be running Live D7 sites, so that they can give a response? Don't have to be 1000 users.. anything is good, just to get an idea of the usage..

Yea, well my sites are listed on my profile.

But you specifically said you wanted to see sites with 2000-3000 active members. Well, most of us don't.

I updated the main post. Hopefully this will help!

The worth of it is to see if a server of his calibur could handle 1000 - 3000 users.  If it couldn't and he anticipates this many users after launch, then he would need to look into building on a better foundation (building Dolphin onto a better server(s) or clustered servers.)
