Live support?

You think boonex should have live support?

Quote · 9 Aug 2008

No. I think that the forum should not be so click oriented and arogant. I have been here a very short time, but in that time I have seen posts go unanswered because the are nieve, and members berated for not being coders. in order for dolphin to grab a huge market share, it needs to maintain a freindly, Not hostile arogant forum, because the world is not as smart as all of you and the world is what you want. any way been a bad day..thanks

JstAgame,

Live support would be wonderful, but at the moment there is a week or more delay before they respond to support requests- if they respond at all.  I think at this point most people would be pretty happy with 24 hour turnaround.

Rob

p.s.  clebarry- you completly missed the point.  JstAgame was talking about Boonex technical support, not these forums.  The two are completely different.

I have to say, I have seen some arrogent responses on the forum, but the majority remain friendly and, most importantly, helpful. Yes, I agree that some posts go unanswered, but that is largely due to the fact that many of the questions involve issues that have no fixes.. at least not yet. I noticed that from the blog entries about member suggestions and so on.

Now.. the support issue, I happen to have submitted a support ticket 3 weeks ago.. I am still waiting for a reply. Is this a good support practise..?! Obviously not, but time will tell if Boonex are serious about supporting their product, after all, the level of support they provide will have a great impact on their sales.. I, for example, am holding back on purchasing 3 MORE ad-free licences until my initial question is answered.. I am sure, many are in the same boat.

JstAgame, Coffee always works.. good advice.

I dont think I missed the point realy, Had some cofee now feel better Wink, my Main point was, the forums here are provided by boonex for support, and from other posts that works but not all that great sometimes. so would seem pointless to spend money to staff a hotline. as far as arogance, there are a lot of great helpfull people here and the arogance I point out comes from a few. In better world it would be easier to simple say "did you read the directions" rather than spend the effort calling someone an idiot....

no matter how you look at it, there are idiots here that shouldnt be here, there are people that have no idea what FTP means, or chmod means, or how to access cpanel and setup a database, some will rant and rave about how crap dolphin is, and its not, its their own stupidity, for trying to use something thats way over their heads and skill level.

people lie too. i was told by one that they are a php programmer and have been for 10 years but not done any for the last 2 years so are a little rusty. only to fall flat on his ass when he asked what chmod means?

sorry you cant code in php for 10 years and have no idea how to set file permissions, or whats the point of setting them.  this is the type of idiot that shouldnt be here. wasting our time telling us lies to get help, and then we find out we have to take them by the hand and teach them how to wipe their nose. sorry i dont have time for people like that.

tell me you have no idea what you are doing and i'll try and make time to teach you, lie to me and i wont.

Fully agreed sammie.

Is this about that database error you were reporting everywhere? If so, you received a few replies in your forum post with some suggestions.

note this is not a dolphin support inquiry. this is directly related with the hosting of choice. the mysql server crashed, and as such, corrupted the sys_sessions table, the table tried to repair automatically and failed, thus requiring a manual repair of the table.

this answer has been provided previously, so not sure why its still being written about all over the forums?

this issue has been resolved by replacing the sys_sessions table on his dolphin database.

though i stand on my decision this is not a dolphin related issue. mysql crashed, causing the sys_sessions table to require a repair. the automatic repair failed, and required a manual repair. in this case, i simply dropped the sys_sessions table and recreated it.
