Lost all members after upgrading

I lost all of the members that I had after upgrading from Dolphin 6 to Dophin7

I assumed it was a database issue so I just replaced the database with a backup which would have held all of the members.

That however did not work.

The way I did my installation was to install 7 in a different directory but used the same database so I could play with 7 and still have my site be active for my members.

Does anyone know if there is a way to get the users back that is faster and easier that what I have just done (Emailed everyone and asked them to join again)

Any help would be appreciated

Are you saying you lost your members in your original D6 site?  You did the right thing by installing D7 in a different directory, but may have jumped the gun in asking your members to re-register. You can't use the same database for D7 - they are totally different.  You need to use the migration module to transfer your members.

strick,

its not real clear what you have going on here. as you can see caltrade had a question in regards to exactly which members did you lose, the ones from the D6 database? I personally am not real sure how you would use the D7 database with the D6 fileset?

does your hosting service provider possibly have a backup?

do you possibly have a backup?
