Main difference between shared host and dedicated! (Problems!)

Hello all,

now ive installed today 2 times dolpin  on my dedicated/colocated debian system with ehcp installed

and on a cheap host with directadmin running on it

on my dedicated server -->> everything is a problem.. nothing works as it should be like caching flashapps and all

on my shared host everything works only small things not like open base dir  and small error BUT the site runs normal like chats and all

can someone explain

your dedicated server needs to be configured in accordance with the developers recommended setup. so the difference is that no server shared or otherwise, will ever conform to the requirements of dolphin, and should never be expected to.

configure your dedicated server, and all shall work well.

well i understand

but the sharedhost is running perfect execpt the base dir error (but doesnt affect the functions)

so its weird that there is no requirements section of server side.. becouse i checked dolphin host tools and all look same

I've tried several attempts to run Dolphin on EHCP under Ubuntu, never could get it to work right.

I did however get Dolphin running on Kloxo, under CentOS 5 after several days of installing and configuring FFMPEG and other modules to get it running, but I did. Have problems with Java I think. I gave up for a while, the server is sitting in my closet. I'll get it back out soon and have another go soon.

Dolphin was the only software that Kloxo didn't like at first. Most all scripts run on it, and it's free.

My shared host works http://alterhosting.com works great also.  A few minor things they have to configure, but they do that within a day with an email request.  I'm sure if one of my sites ever takes off I'll have to switch, but nothing wrong with starting on a shared server if it is a good company.
