Member number as url?

Sorry, I have done some searching but have not found an answer.

Is it possible to have the url of members pages MyDomain/Membernumber? (Like Myspace)

I am having quite a few issues with having the url MyDomain/Username

Administration > Settings > Permalinks

The only way to achieve something like this (without modifications to the code) is by disabling the permalink for profiles.

edit: One problem still. I want users to be able to use the symbol ' in their user names. But if they do, they get a database error when they try anf view their profile page.

I have added ' into the username perameters, but when I do, it makes the join section unusable. The submit button ceases to work on the first page of the join attempt.

There's a reason certain characters aren't allowed to be used for usernames. People have tried to be clever and changed the allowed characters, only for everything to blow up in their face.
