Membership Levels & Allowed Actions

Hi all,

I'm struggling with the membership levels on Dolphin 7.0.2

Every test user I sign up to my site is getting full admin rights and I don't know why. I basically want 3 levels of membership:

Administrator level (I can't be a sole admin) - but this isn't available as a choice during sign up or upgrade - was going to use Deano's tools to promote select members to admin in the back-end control panel.
Paid member
Free member (with obviously some levels restricted - number of photos, etc)

It isn't obvious to me how to get firstly, the member type to be displayed on joining so the person signing up can choose to be a free or paid member.

So basically nobody is asked which they prefer, and each test user has created an account with full admin rights!

Obviously I am going wrong and not understanding how to activate the membership levels properly.

Can anyone offer some sage advice?

Are you looking at the new members while logged in as admin? If so, you'll see everything available. If you login under their username/password (or use Deanos Tools to login to their profile) you'll see it as they will see it. Hope that helps!

Hello!

U just need to disable promotional membership in admin panel->settings->membership levels section or drop from this level all action (in the same section too).

Here's a module to consider:

Just thought I'd mention it.

Thanks for the replies folks.

I've disabled the promotional membership, but what I'll do is remove all actions from that anyway.

But the thing is, in both standard and promo memberships, I thought I had locked down everything to make sure members couldn't delete groups.

I then created a new test user, and went straight in and deleted the groups I had set up.  So for some reason it appeared to me as if the membership levels weren't being enforced somehow.

Martinboi - thanks for the suggestion of your module - it likely will be something I'll look at in the future, once we're towards the end of the testing phase.

I bought and use martiboi's mod.  It is really great.  Many things you can do with it that you really can't do with the plain admin.  It might behoove you to try it in his demo so you don't have to redo anything if you choose to buy it.

I most likely will buy the mod, but until we're satisfied that Dolphin definitely will work for us, then I'll have to hold off until that decision is made.

However, I've done as was suggested - disabled promotional membership, and also disabled all fields in the promotional member category.

I have signed up another test user account.

Membership type is "Standard" and I am able to delete groups etc, which I don't want to be able to do.  I also can access the admin panel too. The test account seems to have full access to the site, which is definitely not what should be happening!

*update: I'm beginning to think there is something seriously up with my dolphin install.  Not only have i disabled ALL actions on the Promotion membership, I've disabled all actions on the Standard membership, and every account I create has full admin rights and can delete and do anything it wants.*

Either that, or I've  completely missed a check box or something hidden somewhere that says "Enable Membership levels"!!!!
