Menu dropdown help

Ok, what I want to do is get rid of these drop down menus, but keep this sub menu. I've been looking for some time and haven't found any conclusive results. Also, I was hoping to make a menu tab called "explore" or something similar to place videos, photos, sounds etc... in and using that as a drop down.

Example: When hovering over "explore" there is a list of

  • Photo
  • Video
  • Forum

Then when clicking on these items it takes you to the respective homepage with the static submenu still active. does this make sense?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Thanks Houston.  another quick question.  Is there a way to put items in the extra button (when the menu runs out of room it auto generates the + button) and keep it up permanently?  I would like to get all of my media stuff in there without sacrificing the sublinks.

Thanks again.

I don't understand the question.

He only wants the additional drop-down menu item (which displays when more menu items than the allowed setting are present) to display.

Something like this. It really cleans up the clutter and would love to have 6 or less tabs for navigation

Is this possible? If so can you point me in the right direction?

Thanks

Chris

Why not just set the additional drop-down menu display limit to something as low as 1 (or 0), and have them appear there, if that is what you want?

Well as far as I can tell that "more" link only shows up when there is no more room for menu items.  When I drop the menu down to 6 items the "more" link will not be active.  I've tried creating a new menu top-level item labeld "Explore" then dropping other top levels in, but then it gets rid of the heirarchy setup in their own respective menus:

ie.

Sounds

  • sounds home
  • all sounds
  • featured
  • etc

If I put the "sounds" top level item into "Explore" it loses its sub menu items.

whereas the "more" tab maintains these heirarchys.

Hi,

I would be very interested in the solution of having links appearing only in the sub-menu and not appearing in the main menu. I may be missing something here, but I can see only posts saying "Thank you for your help" - not the solution itself.

Can someone please point me to the solution?

Regards,

Vish.

I understand that you dont want to see the submenu vertically, but only horizontal??

if so, than this is the solution:

insert at the end of  top_menu.css of the template.

.topMenu .top ul.sub.main_elements li {
display:none;
}

cache clearing and DONEsmile on my site its running same way
