Menu language - Can't edit some

Hi all, I was just wondering what would make some of the language files unchangeabel and some are. I have been trying to edit my menu to give it a little color and noticed that I cant change some of them through the language file system. I am also having problems with the Available Membership Types wording in top heading not being able to edit. Would like to ad All are one time payments. When I change these it says it is edited successfully but it isn't. I know I have the right ones and the code is correct. Is there a place in the data base for these as well. Tried altering the language file itself but that didn't work so I guess it is a database permission possibly. I think. Still new to this but I think I'm catching on.

All color changes should be done via the CSS files and NOT via the Language Keys.  You'll get a lot better results using the CSS and it'll got a whole lot faster.

Ok, that makes sence. I just saw this as a short cut. Can you tell me which file it is to edit this?

First:  Return all your language keys as they were.  It was a very industrious item on your part.

Second:  Use firefox w/the firebug add-on and it will show you where to change the CSS for just about anything.

To help you along, there are 115 incidents of menu in the templates/base/css/general.css file.  Use firebug to isolate out exactly which strings you want out of there.
