Misiing - Meta Tags and Site Title

Hello Everyone

I'm a newbie to dolphin yet, shaping my website for the launch and come accross a fact which I think needs working on. As I have found out that dolphin 7 ( cannot speak for earlier version) does not show the website title and meta keywords and description throughtout the website but only on the home page. By default the title, metat tags should be showing.

Looking at the market place, am surprised there is no developer who has come up with a mod to fix this issue which is a bug.Dont see a bug fix on unity for this or if there is I hav'nt come accross it yet.

So I think boonex or developers out there need to do some thinking and come up with a solution on this one.

dolphin is a little different when it comes to SEO and how its indexed. currently i have no complaints about how dolphin 7 is indexed. it would be nice if you could set some meta tags for each individual page yes. there was a mod for 6.1.6, actually might even drag that out and see if i can get it to work with Dolphin 7.

across the site, as your members interact, they will provide what is called 'tags' which essentially amount to keywords. this is on a per member per page (interaction) basis.

so the keywords you would supply as admin, from within the admin panel are pliable to the index of the site. your inbound (internal) links that are established via the menu system as well as other factions of the site, will then splay out across the site from link to link utilizing the entirety of the site. so yes it would be nice to have the ability to provide meta tags on some of the pages, but there is no way you are going to be able to provide the multitude of tags that are created by your members.

the page titles are all unique and different the page title is derived from the page name (hence: page title) so there is no real problem there.

Yeah, you are right but there is still nothing that completely replaces a well thought out meta tag display per page. I have actually used meta tags in sites to control specifically what page appears in Google by the search terms used to find it.

I am considering a manual edit of several of my pages to add them in. It will give you an edge and to be honest, I don't like the idea of Boonex deciding specificaly what tags I add to my pages by a script as they would never get it right and I'd be forced to go in and fix them anyway.

The meta tag description you're speaking about was a mislabel, it was only ever supposed to be on the home page.  I brought this up earlier and on 7.0.1 the description will be changed to reflect that the meta tags, etc is only for the home page.

Hey DosDawg

I think your going ahead too far along the lines of meta tags, title I am talking about hear, if you go on every website and see the title and every othere page

it will be title name - page name ( example yoursite.com - page name) every pages says that, on d7 this is not the case and for these pages showing on a search engine will not be the same say you have 50 pages and someone types in your site title only the home page will show other pages will not show up at all nor will the meta tags of what you have inputed, what the default is of the actual metat tags on each page is a good thing put a website needs a title, description and keywords.
