Mysql vs mariadb?

Hi all,

I am running on Centos 6 with MySQL 5.6

Are there any advantages to use MariaDB instead?

Thanks

Karl

Loads of advantages; just make sure you get the latest because many of the repos don't.  Latest is the 10.x branch.  You set up your own repo and instructions are at MariaDB.

I have been running it for years now and very happy with the speed.  Oracle owns MySQL now so the team forked it.  Oracle does not really care about open source, they care about selling licenses for support to enterprises so mySQL is not going forward like it use to do.
