Need free hosting for testing ... Any Ideas?

Hello,

Can anyone suggest any FREE hosting companies so I can do some testing while

I look for a permanent hosting company and still decide on a domain name?

I know of some free ones already, but Ive run into some problems running

Dolphin 7 on them.

Thanks!

the cheapest would be localhost ;) server control, easy access, no limitation it's all just a mouse click away

There are no free web hosting providers that support Dolphin. If there was, I'd imagine I'd know about them, since I've known allot of hosts over the years, many offering free web hosting (not for my own use, just to see how things are).

You're best bet would be to host yourself for awhile, and see how things are (though note the limitations). If you're on Windows, you can download WAMP or XAMPP, or if you are on Linux, you can download XAMPP.

Though if you need a host to test things out, I wouldn't mind offering you space on my server, but note that you wouldn't have control panel (for the web server) access. But, I can give you a database account, FTP and email account.

I'd tell you, but you look a little too young to be messing around with this sort of thing anyway.  How 'bout a nice little rattle toy?

My opinions expressed on this site, in no way represent those of Boonex or Boonex employees.

I'm doing a test @sonethost myself.. they give U 400megs for free (RMS included) but you have to have a domain name.. everything works fine except for OpenSocial module..

Very interesting, and this could possibly be an easy way for the smaller sites who are starting out to use a free web hosting package just for their Media Server, keeping their far better web hosting plan with another web host to server their Dolphin site.

Hey, it was just an idea. Either way, it doesn't beat having it hosted with your other package, so I'd consider that as only a temporary solution.

Hello everyone!

Thanks for all the replies.

I have been testing  at megabyet which is free and gives over 1gb of space but out of the blue something happened to the script.

Since the hosting was free I assumed it was because of them which is why I did this posting.

I ended up reinstalling and everything works fine now, but I will also try out sonethost as was recommened.

Thanks!
