New Elgg ..

I have been peeking at 'our neighbors' because I was curious :)

elgg.org ... they released a new version, still in beta. It looks promising though, and it 'feels' faster than dolphin. I am wondering how I can compare the use of resources?

Elgg does not offer all the functionality that Dolphin offers, but then again ... I am not looking to have a dating site with all the blows and whistles activated (video chat, video upload etc etc) I just want to have a fun social network where people with similar interests can meet.

Anyway, if anyone knows how to compare resources .. pls let me know

i hadn't been there in a long time, and forgot I had an account there.   I didn't realize they had gone to a free model - last time I was there it was a 30 day trial or something like that.   As I recall, they had an architecture that made sense but not too many modules - I couldn't tell if it had changed.  I don't know anything about its performance, but let us know if it works out for you.

hmm maybe go ask on there forums.

If you want to compare the two, you're best off creating some demo installs on your server.
