New Radius Search Not Working for Me?

OK is there something I need to do to activate the new radius search?  It appears to not be working on my site?  If I put a zipcode in for an office which I know has numerous agents they do not return in the search results.  What am I missing here?  I can provide zipcode and search options..............

I wouldnt count on anything on boonex usig Zip codes for search reference. I have numerous mods all of which supposedly use zip codes. I have changed the zip codes for addresses and guess what.... it always points to the same location. If i set the area as lewisham for example, I can enter a post code from scotland, but they all still point to lewisham on the maps.

I am beginning to think the use of zip codes for searches etc on dolphin are a complete fabrication and that they only use the city of line 2 of an address.

It is depressing for sure but I thought the addition of the new mod for 7.0.7 might change the game so to speak.............I sure hope I am right but apparently not yet as "They" are not responding............

yep... i was hoping to make mods on my site so that when a user goes to a certain page, say the salsa page then it would automaticaly display salsa dance events within a given radius from the user.

Apparently if it could be done the problem would be thet the amount of calculation required to do this for each indevidual that hits that page would bring the site to a crawl.......

Quote · 16 Aug 2011

That is just not accurate at all it is a simple calculation with geocodes and a google v-3 map........

The mapping with dolphin is a bit different............I had to add my own aspects to get it to work but still need help with the zip code radius search and wondering why nobody is responding to this?

If your referring to a locations module. To get the maps to display the correct location and not the same address, which was happening to a site.

In the address field; I have to put the complete address including the zip code, not just the street address.

In settings for locations modules your able to set what the map keys from, of course is is set to "address1"

I have test this on several sites and get the same result each time.

If a member adds their business location and does not include the zip in the address field the you get a generic location for the general zip code area. The way to correct for us is to manually enter the info i.e.

Address: 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway

this will not work.

corrected to this will work

Address: 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043

hope this helps

Not really what I am after which is to search members by zip code!?!?

 Thought so..

So I tested the search on your site, my old test account has never had the zip information stored.

I completely filled out my profile and did some searches using the zip search with some strange results.

I'm in 32207 zip and did a search for members 1000 mile radius and your account and some others show up, its really confusing how these results are pulled.

What setting do you have the zip module in? Google or geonames.

Could a Boonex Administrator explain how this feature actually works.

This is really a load of crap too, it not working. I purchased kolimarfey's search a couple months back, because Boonex's zip search didn't work. Now Boonex's claims of having it work now, even though it doesnt, and now neither does kolimarfey's mod. They invested in his mod, and can't even get it working, what good is that? Does Boonex ever test something before they go gloating over it as a new feature? I'm now out $25 because of their claim of this working.

i confirm that the 7.0.7 upgrade breaks kolimarfey's paid zipcode search, and that the new and improved zipcode search from boonex DOES NOT WORK.

Guys this is not a random post for crying out loud.  This has been an issue since day 1 WHY does a VERY important feature seem to just be ignored when you have so many asking WTH?  Look as I add more and more people to my site and different areas' are used this feature working is a MUST HAVE and should be a staple of Boonex and it's ability.

I have been here long enough and really devoted 2 years of my life with this platform.  How can something that seems so important just go ingnored?

I contacted Dos Dawg a year ago about this issue and we both agreed to agree it just does not work.  I have no idea what it would take to be a more serious member but can someone please address what is up with what should be a given...............I am ready willing and able to to give complete details...........

well the difference here is that 7.0.7 if that is the version you are running Chris, has adapted the module from kolimarfeys zip code module, which worked.

so if you are not on 7.0.7, then get the module from kolimarfey, because he does good work.

there are a lot of things that are ignored like the payment module, the order of precedence on module installation. but they want you to keep that all quite and just 'suck it up' you should only come here on these forums and blogs with your sphincter pucker and be prepared to do all you can to praise the boondockers and all that they do.

so they provide you the enhancement of a few glitches and bugs, those are extra.

zipcode search from kolimarfey pre --> 7.0.7 works fabulously, dolphin 7.0.7 has kolimarfey's zipcode module as part of the default elements on the modules.

OK I took the advise of the comment section in the module itself and the radius or miles from a zip code did not work AT ALL but when I just put the zip code search back in direct contrast to the instructions in there it appears to be working which is just fine by me but that location block HAS NEVER EVER WORKED for me....................it's a shame as it is a great feature........if it worked..............I love the Porsche great it doesn't work but it's great to think about it.........

Does anybody read help section in ZIP Code Search mod admin panel ?

Search powered by Geonames is free geocoding service and maximum search radius is always limited to 30km.

Search powered by Google is working when "World Map" module from BoonEx is installed and profiles positions are geocoded.

To enable search by ZIP code in profiles search form go to:
Dolphin admin panel -> Builders -> Profile Fields -> Search Profiles
You need to drag "Country" and "Location" fields at least. Please remove any other location related blocks like "zip code" and/or "city".

Regarding previous version of ZIP Codes Search from kolimarfey: if you already upgraded to 7.0.7, uninstall this mod (along with removing modification from   templates/base/scripts/BxBaseProfileView.php file) and install new version of this mod from BoonEx.

I too followed the instructions, and uninstalled kolimarfey's mod and installed the boonex zip search module.

I don't know how I did it, but I got it working, editing between the old code and the new one in .07

Hmm.. can't see any other reason(except specified in "help" section) why it isn't working, maybe there is some custom modification - please try to replace the following file with the original one:

templates/base/scripts/BxBaseProfileView.php

To AlexT, yes I did read those instructions. Still does not function.
