Has anyone experienced an issue with the new user sign-up (and login) connecting really slow? For some reason, it only happens with new users who are signing up. Then once the new user signs up, it's still really slow for them to login and do anything on the site.
For admin and other users, the site works fine.
Seems odd and not sure where to look for fix.
Thank You in advance

Is it all the default sign in page or did you add extra fields and design boxes ? https://dolphin-techs.com - Skype: Dolphin Techs |
I did not add extra fields in sign up. It's actually been working fine for years. I'm not sure what you mean when you say "default sign in page". |
Oh, I just understood what you meant. The default sign-in page. The site is completely dragging (slow) for new members. That includes signing up, logging in, site surfing. What's strange is it is only happening for new users. I can log in with different accounts and use the site with no issues. |
This sounds more like a browser or PC issue from the new users end rather than a site/server problem. PM your URL and I'll test it, based on what your saying I should be running slow. |
have you cleared all cache?
that is where i would start.
if that fixes things - great....
if not- try repairing tables in the database and see if that speeds things back up....
|
The issue is not with the user's web browser as I've tried on several browsers and different connections. There is no issue with Database (checked and repaired just in case) and the site's cache has been cleared.
Here is the site Fablist.org, if you would like to sign up as a new user and let me know if you're experiencing a long delay.
Thanks again

Just did a test join and although it wasn't instant it also wasn't that slow considering all the "required" fields you have there.
May I suggest removing a lot of what could be done by the user after signup like the headline, description details, uploading a photo, tags zip code, looking for as these are all fields that don't need to be there at sign up. just a suggestion.
I also did a speed test on your site and you will find that there are a few things slowing you down.
Hope you find some light in all of this.

You also have another issue with your site. View screenshot. |
Thanks for the screenshots. The top error messages seem to be from the World Map module. I turned that off and that took care of that issue.
Nobody else seems to experience the really slow loading. Not sure what's going on my side. Works fine with my admin account. Slow as a slug with other accounts.

I am now getting complaints from new users that the site is extremely slow. Most cannot sign up because it's so slow. I created another new account and it is ridiculously slow. Once again, my older accounts along with the admin account work fine with no issue. |
I have been looking it over. So far i have not been able to pinpoint a cause. https://www.deanbassett.com |
SOLUTION -
I just figured out what the problem was. So if anyone is experiencing this issue, this is what you need to do:
1. Go to Admin > Tools > AntiSpam Tools
2. Click on "Settings" (top-right tab)
3. Uncheck all the anti-spam tools and click save
4. Logout and login (or sign up) as a new user to see if site is faster.
5. Once you see that the site is faster, go back into AntiSpam tools and re-check (restart) the antispam tools until you figure out which tool is slowing down your site.
For me, I manually approve all sign ups anyway so I just turned on Akismet back on and a couple of others. The "Smart AntiSpam" tool was what caused my site to crawl.
Good Luck

One more thing:
It wasn't "Smart AntiSpam" causing my problem. It was "Enable DNS Block List" that was the culprit. I turned everything else on BUT that and my site works fine now.

When ever a user visit the website for the first time it will be slow cause all the content will be loaded on their side and will be saved in cache, next time major portion of the website will be loaded from the cache and any new content will be loaded form server side. :)

Have been experiencing the same problem on all of my sites. Clicking join takes takes forever and forever. Disabling DNS Block List cleared the problem. Joining now takes 1 second.
