New member can't login

Installed 7.2 and created a new member.

When trying to login I get the message name or password are not correct.

What am I doing wrong ?

On the second page, miscel. info I only have the field 'receive email' so I have to push the button join now again which results in 'form contains errors'.

Can't I leave out fields on the join page ? Is that the error ? 

Do you have the CAPTCHA on the first page? If so, it needs to be on the last page of the form.

For the login issue, have you tried changing the password in the admin panel?

I want my join page to contain just 1 page, so yes, I put the captcha on this one (first) page.

Does this mean we are obliged to have more pages for joining ?

Also, when I click on the calender to pick the date of birth, the join form disappears and one has to click on 'join' again to get it back. Very confusing for new members.

Are all the fields on one page? Then it's something else. Check that no removed fields still have a mandatory minimum or similar restrictions set.

Not sure about the calendar issue. Can you post a link to your site?

Yes, 'description me' and 'nickname' were mandatory fields  I unchecked the mandatory, but still I can't login.

Alright, I'm afraid you're confusing me. Is this issue for the join form or login form?

Join form

When a new user fill outs all the fields I have in the join form, he gets a confirmation email. I activate the new user but when he tries to login the error message 'wrong name or password' appears.

I have the same problem with the calendar. You pick a month then it refreshes and you have to click on join again. Then year and same thing. Then the day and the same.. Was hoping Deano would come in a save the day with his drop down module. I tried his old one and it does not take. Hope it updates it.

I am using FireFox 40.0.3

Regarding the calendar, I don't seem to have this issue on my end. I did manage to sign-up on the site, and didn't have an issue logging in. Perhaps try turning off the cache options and see if that makes a difference?

Nathan, did you signup on my site ? I don't see a profile. I tried on another computer to join the site, same error message.

So there must be something wrong with the fields or number of pages on the join form.

I deleted my account after I signed up and logged in successfully.

This is a strange issue because from my computer I still can't login after I created a new profile. And yes, I cleared all caches 

ok, I added the 'nickname' field again and now it works.

Still, the join form disappears when using the calendar for entering date of birth. I'm using Google Chrome.

I can't reproduce this for some reason, but try moving that field to a second page of the join form (also have the CAPTCHA block on the second page - it needs to be last). The second, third, etc. pages are handled at /join.php directly, so this won't be an issue.
