New membership level setup

Hi, I have been trying to add a membership level and I cant seem to get them to show on the members available membership types. When I go to settings/membership levels and try and create a new level nothing happens. It doesn't show on the page and nothing in the members/dashboard/availabel membership types. Also was wondering if there should be other options besides the promotional showing up? The Standard member level doesnt show up either. Am I missing something.
