Newbie with many issues with Dolphin 7.1

Hi all!

I just started few days ago to create my website project, but I know nothing about coding. Only thing I can say, I still want to work hard on learning as much as I can because the cause is awesome ( helping a community ). I need someone that could tell me what to do or/and how to do (cause I can't pay to make a coder work on it and spend his precious time), so here is my issues:

1. I would like to rename as "Affiliate", the standard (system) membership. Because it's a default system membership, I can't delete it and/or rename it as I would like, to rename it as "Affiliate" membership.

2. I bought an affiliate module and to make the whole site fully legal, I need any visitor to be able to join for free as affiliate (that is the reason to rename the standard (system) membership to affiliate membership) first, then after they became a free affiliate (like a free member with very limited access), they will be able to upgrade their profile to also become a member (paid monthly membership) and then have a full access to the web site.

I know it can be done by adding a custom (new) membership with it's specific permissions and price, as I already done it. But I can't find the way to get an "Upgrade" button that would link to a payment gateway ( I want to use Paypal) and proceed with a recurring monthly payment.

3. I installed the free avatar module, it's there, but seem not working as no member, no matter the permission I set, can choose a default avatar image or upload one from their computer.

4. I then installed the Photos module and since I can upload a picture, set it as a profile picture, it still just stay in the album.

5. Finally, where I can go to add a block with custom/editable text in any page I would like to implement it. Basically, I would like to create a text displayable on the home page to shortly explain why they should join as affiliate and then why they should upgrade as paid member. But I also want to put a text in the join page and the upgrade page to explain the advantages to proceed in each case. Also add a text in About us, Contact us, FAQ, etc.!

If any of you know how to do that, please help me as I don't know how to do it and I've been searching for answers in that massive forum since few days already. I really want to help a community as much as I can and hope to do enough money to pay my family bills. Each person I will successfully help will have a positive impact on 10 of their family members.

I have been able to learn about managing blocks with your last reply and by that, solve my question #5. I also find out that the photo module work partially, as I uploaded a picture yesterday and approve it. But couldn't reassigned it as my profile picture if I didn't have set it like it in first place. Maybe a cache issue.

For the avatar, it doesn't work at all and I'm clueless.

Concerning my question #2, I tried to install the store module, but I get a fail message!!! :O

For question #1, I just want to rename the system "standard" membership for "affiliate" membership. So this way, when people will register for free, it will be obvious that they are a free affiliate of my web site as their membership will say it all: Affiliate.

If anyone would like to take a look at my web site admin section to see what is wrong with the Avatar and Photo modules not working at all or partially and why I got a fail message when I tried to install the store module, I'm open to it.

Just PM me and I'll give you the information to access it and try to figure out. No worry, I just installed one paid module and few free basic modules that come with the core software.

P.S.: Till everything will work perfectly, I will use the trial version only.

We usually ask what method did you use for the install as auto installers usually fail.

And describe what you did to try and assign it?

The photo that is shown by default in the profile photo block on the profile page is normally the last one uploaded. To change that you need to go into the photo album and click on the Organize link. That will allow you to drag the photo you want to the front of the list. Unfortunately boonex did not make that a easy procedure.

And as Newton27 pointed out. The auto installers are not reliable. If you used one to install dolphin, it's recommend you scrap it and do a manual install.

I just buy a share hosting, that offer the feature of auto install Dolphin with a one click. Do you mean I need to remove my entire web site and install it again manually? If so, what is considered manually?

For the pictures, I would prefer using just the avatar module as I read that is would keep any image downloaded with it as a profile image even if the member download few pictures. Like you said, when you add a new picture, it replace the actual profile picture with the new one. But by using an avatar that doesn't need to be a cartoon like image, it doesn't do that.
