Nginx versus Apache

My host (Apthost.com) is changing to Nginx as opposed to Apache.

They are offering to rewrite the .htacces files. They claim 100% efficiency in comparison to Apaches 80% and faster, more reliable and efficient video streaming (They host many ffmpeg websites).

Will Dolphin work properly under Nginx?

Many thanks for any advice!!

I was thinking to do the same. I don't think it will be a problem.

Most of php software doesn't care if it is being run by mod_php or php-fcgi, which is I suppose they are going to use. And nginx IS really that good as they say.

The only problem is to have to rewrite .htaccess, which is very boring thing to do.

Would you be so kind to get and share those rewrite rules for nginx once your hoster is done with them ?

Ok, they tell me it will be about two weeks. Once they are done I will post the revised (Nginx) files here.

Yes, you can use nginx too, but, why you wrote versus?

usually to rise site speed you can split functional of your server and use nginx to return any static content (images, possible static pages etc)

So, this is usually not - apache OR nginx. Usually used symbiosis of these both servers.
