No join or login box

Hello,

I am running the latest 7.3.1 and my issue is when you click the join or the login the screen turns darker but the login or join box never displays. What could be the issue? you can see your self at my server http://club3x.org any help appreciated! BTW yes it DID work and then just stopped working.

Thanks,

John

I had a similar problem on a site.  In 7.3.1 there is a change on the service menu that Boonex added; we really do need to document all this stuff.  The position of the login or join item controls what appears selected on the pop-up join form.  If you have an item added before the join or login items on the service menu it can prevent the pop-up form from appearing. This of course may not be your problem; jquery conflicts can also prevent the form from appearing so if you have added any jquery/javascript code to the front page that needs to be checked as well.

Thanks for that but no I have not done any of that. Actually just stopped working a few days ago out of the blue. I didn't notice it because I have my login saved in my browser so I get logged in no problem. But then I had people say they cant join or login and I tried it from another browser and they are right.

If it was working and then it stopped, something must have changed about the site.  You need to try and think of what it could be.  You can also try cleaning the caches /cache /cache_public leaving the .htaccess files in place but I doubt it if will help.

You could also try turning off JS compression and see if that helps.

Send me a PM with the URL of your site and I will see if any thing shows up in the error console.

file permissions don't just change; something has to cause it to change such as someone doing it or a script doing it; etc.

I would suggest you change passwords to the server just as a caution and then see if you can track down what caused the file permissions to change.  Of course it could have benn an accident on your part.
