Non-member membership level

Hi, any one know what is membership level "Non-member" for and how to use it.

Thanks.

there are three default membership levels when you install the dolphin application.

non-member

standard

promotion

a non-member would basically be one that has not created an account on your site.

if you nav --> admin --> settings --> membership levels

you can click on any of the membership levels links and see what actions are allowed on the site according to the membership level.

as to exactly how to use the non-member membership level, its presupposed that you would allow certain access in order to get them interested in your site enough to actually join, and on a paid membership, they would then get whatever level of access that is associated with that specific membership level that was upgraded to.

hope that makes sense.

Thanks, DosDawag.

I tried to understand it a little bit more.

As of now dolphin 7 DOES NOT support the limiting of non-member action.  Alex or Anton responded to a bug post about non-members being able to view unlimited profiles when I set a limit to the view.  It was said that Boonex never thought about tracking non-member usage and therefore the limits available to non-members were not functionable at this time.  They may "address" it in 7.1 but there isn't a bug about it so I doubt they will.

So you need to know that anything you let a non-member view will be unlimited.  It's a very poor design choice by boonex and I have no idea how any programmer would overlook such a basic concept of teasing visitors to join with limited viewing.  Especially when you provide the functions for it.
