Notifications For Dolphin 7?

By default, i don't have notifications enabled.

How do i enable them?

How do i get rid of "Custom HTML Block" at the top of the index page?

I don't like the promo flashing pictutes script so i switched it to this blocl.. but i want to get rid of it..

I have notifications disabled, on the email templates admin page. When I receive a greeting I still get the notification.  How can I control what emails are sent out to my users?  I don't want my site to end up spaming their email in boxes.

Any help is greatly appreciated
