Number of Users Supported

How Many users can dolphin support? (50,000 - 100,000)?

At this level of user numbers what would be the required server specs to run this community?

Cheers

I'm not sure of any limit on the number of members Dolphin can support. As for server requirements, if you were hoping to have a community of 50,000 members, all using the typical features in the script (video, sounds, communication), I'd say: allot, or at least a considerable amount.

Perhaps someone such as DosDawg can chime in on this, as he should have allot of experience with the requirements for Dolphin.

Thanks mate,

I spoke with hostgator one of the hosting companies on the boonex website which they reccomend.

They said that one of their mid range dedicated servers would be sufficient during the build up phase of the community.

Once limits are close to being reached then further upgrades could be looked at.

Would still appreciate anyones input or different perspectives on this topic :)

Start reasonable, the software operates as quickly as your server operates, if you need to host for 50,000 simulatenous use then you will want a balance server solution. However, don't put out the money or resources for that until you know you need that type of server.  Start out smaller and change as your needs change.  It makes no sense to spend thousands now for a server designed for future use.  Get a server that meets your realistic current needs (and 50,000 users immediately is not likely too optimistic).

Go with your host's suggestion and upgrade as needed, your wallet will thank you.
