Number of files possible in each upload folder?

Hi I'm very new to Dolphin, but have developed several websites in the past using CMS's like Joolma and Dzoic Handshakes. I am interested to know if Dolphin 7 has any specific member number limitations? I noticed that photos and file uploads are all stored in one folder - has anyone had any issues with this when member numbers start getting into the 100'000's or even more? Is this just a limit on the webserver side? Thanks for any advice in advance.

Thanks for that. Interesting. Am I therefore to believe that Dolphin out of the box may struggle with a site with over 20,000 members without any further development?

depends on the machine you are talking about:

single core

1GB RAM

120 GB HDD

yes,

Thanks for that. Interesting. Am I therefore to believe that Dolphin out of the box may struggle with a site with over 20,000 members without any further development?

 16-Core

32GB RAM

2x 1TB drive

and its not so much the number of members registered, is the number of concurrent active members. apache handles 500 requests, then you would need some appliance tor load balancing. without going in depth its not as easy as thinking company A has a dedicated server i can get for $68/month, that should do me.

I have a test server going that has 17,000 FAKE profiles, with me being friends with all, if the system is setup with an auto online mod, they server has a very hard time dealing with the load.

Now this is no power house server by any means, 2.8GHZ 2GB RAM HT CPU only.. and it is running from home. It has every tweak possible as suggested here

I actually had to stop doing it because I thought I might damage it, the fans go like jet engines when under heavy load.

Now if your running something with 16 CPU's and 80GB of RAM you will have a great site, but who can afford that out of the box..
