Optimizing website from Cpanel

Hi, I was looking through my cpanel and found this option and was wondering if I should be turning it on or not. Below is the settings I am talking about.

Optimize Website

Optimize the performance of your website by tweaking the way Apache handles requests.

Compress Content

Apache 2.0 and 2.2 allow you to compress content before sending it to the vistor's browser. The types of content to be compressed are specified by MIME type. This feature requires Apache's mod_deflate to function correctly.

Disabled
Compress all content
Compress the specified MIME types

Hello Scott,

Did you ever enable the "Compress Content"? Was the performance better is you did? What setting did you set it to?

This is a basic gzipper. It has multiple choices because everyone requires different configurations, and certain settings will screw up peoples site display.

Experiment some. Find a site that does site load time tests and run them on each setting to see if it improves your load time. Often it worsens it or screws display some.

I use it and it helps slightly. But remember that this setting should be done after all your major site construction. If you change a core file or something, the change may not show due to the gzip being enabled.

This sentance says nothing, and its possibly spellt wrong.
