For some reason, anything having to
do with Orca, whether it be on the forum page or stats about it on other
pages, has [L[ before and ]] after.

Any know why?
Thank
I had this problem back during the 6.0
days. For some reason with 7.0 I'm having the same problem again, except
this solution doesn't apply any more..?
Anyway, yeah I'm seeing the [L[blah]] on everything at the orca
forum, and I tried to "recompile language" a bunch of times under the
modules page. When I try to access the actual forum settings under the
modules tab it forwards me to the forum on the actual site.
Any help would be awesome...

Yes it will send you to the actual forum on your site and then you can compile the languages there by clicking the en link top right amongst all the [L['s

I'm having the same problem with the [L[...]]
Tried to "Compile Lang" but get an error: Failed!
Anyone?
And how can I translate the English into Dutch?
My site is in Dutch, but the forum isn't

Orca use a own language file. You need to translate this to. Kids first |
where is the Orca languagefile stored?
and does someone knows how too get rid of the annoying [L[....]]

look in the modules/forum/install/langs after translating this, go to your administration/tools. markeer there the orca file and click below on compile
go to your administration, modules. Click on Orca. Now you will right in the orca screen compile language (en) Click on this. Now your language will be compiled. Kids first |
If you want everything work smoothly inn your boonex applikation, then start translate all modules language files. You can locate them in every modul under install/langs/
When all modules are translated, then start the installation with 2 language files in each module, english, and your language. Create a new language in the adminpanel, remeber right language code, and flag, and click save.
Now you can choose what language you want to compile in to the dolphin software modules. The same is the situation with the orcla forum. If you compile right language from the start, you will not have any problems.
This is what I did from the start, and I did not have thise kinds of problems.
And if it is in someones interest, I'am adding all new problems and solutions that I finde. Languages allowed: Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, and English.
I'm new to boonex software too, just started, but I have a loads of time I can use to help. http://www.nordnyt.com/c/ If this is against the rules, then just remove the link.

I'm translating into Danish. I must say hat it has been quite a learning curve. I have still not figured out where the system language-file is located. So every time I recompile anything it goes back to English. I wish there was an easier way to translate the site. But anyway... HEre is the site I am building: http://slutsprut.dk

Best way to translate the site to a another language is, to do it online whitch the admin /languages settings. Make a new language file, like : dk now type the words you want to translate in the section Look for click then on search. Now you wil get a list with all files. Klik on edit and you can translates this. You have two boxex, en and dk. after click on save now the translating will be saved in the database.

in order to get rid of the [L] you have to compile the language file for orca. admin --> modules --> orca forum --> there is a link there on the right side of the page next to Manage Forum en
where is the Orca languagefile stored?
and does someone knows how too get rid of the annoying [L[....]]
that link will or should compile your language files. there are a few reasons it wouldnt that i am familiar with, if you have a custom template, then you could face hardships when trying to compile your language files. need to get with your author of the template if this is the case for you.

yes i have custom templates, but also in the UNI template it fails.
my site is completely up and running now, but only the forum is ugly with the [L[...]]
anyone other ideas?

For the forum to compile properly you need to check the following things.
1) Make sure the following directories are writable. Mode 777. Mode 755 of some servers.
modules\boonex\forum\classes modules\boonex\forum\conf modules\boonex\forum\layout modules\boonex\forum\log modules\boonex\forum\js modules\boonex\forum\cachejs
2) If you had moved site from another server then previously compiled forum files may not be writable and would need to be removed.
To remove the previously compiled folders delete modules\boonex\forum\layout\skinname_lang folders.
skinname is the name of the skin and lang is the compiled language such as en. So to remove the compiled english version of the UNI template for example you would delete modules\boonex\forum\layout\uni_en from the server.
NOTE: Do not delete any folders that do not end with a _ and a 2 letter language suffix. https://www.deanbassett.com |
I chanded the directories to 777.
Still the message: [L[Language files compilation have been failed]]
Did someone ever deleted those [L[...]] ?????

Orca Forum language dir is:
modules/boonex/forum/integrations/base/langs
Here you have to create lang files ... After uploading, recompile at TOOLS>MODULES> clicking only Orca Forum and the again recompiling the complete lang at SETTINGS>LANGUAGE SETTINGS ...
It worked for me.

I just had the same problem after a partially successful upgrade from 7.0.4 to 7.0.5. I could not compile the orca languages with any browser (IE, FF, Chrome, etc). I did resolve the problem and here is how:
- Uninstalled the orca form from within Dolphin (this required events and groups to be uninstalled first)
- Reinstalled orca (but then I received an error stating that modules/boonex/forum/classes, modules/boonex/forum/layout and modules/boonex/forum/js needed to be writable (777)
- I made the modifications via FTP
- Attempted to reinstall the Orca and was successful
- Install Events and Groups successfully as well
- And then compiled the Orca Forum successfully
BE WARNED!!! Uninstalling Orca Forums will remove (aka delete) any and all Forum posts and Groups that you have. PLEASE make sure you have a current FULL (and possibly Incremental) backup handy and ready.
After I realized my forum posts and groups were gone I quickly restored my full plus incremental backup of those directories mentioned above in addition to the mySQL database from earlier this morning (I do incrementals backups every morning) and VOILA! My forums are compiled, messages and posts exists and all is good in the land of Dolphin.
This is a really good piece of software but it is not for the faint of heart. You must have some skill set with your OS (Linux Here) and be willing read, read, post and read some more. I have been with Dolphin for about a year now and I love it. Nothing else comes close to it on the market but it does require a learning curve.
