Passing Variables to a popup window

Hello everyone.

Is there a way to pass variables to a popup window.

I'm trying to pass some database variables to popup php file that generates a gd created image.

I can pass the variables through a hidden form setup on a template file but it only will pass the first word?

Where are you want show popup window?

I'm showing a post, like on my bloggie (the tutorial), and in the .../m/bloggie/view/1  I want a button that says get picture and sends some variables to a popup window that will creates a gd image that can be printed.  I can get the popup window to come out and I can post the variables through a  form on the template\base\view.php page but when I use the template text like __text__  it only sends the first word.
