Paypal setup for D7

I am brand new to D7 and setting up paypal on websites. So i need someone to explain to me how to setup paypal for my needs (which is going to be different than most). I am running a gothic industrial (music) community and need the ability for my members to sell their gothic clothing, music albums, artwork, ect...

What is the easiest way to set this up?

Do i need a paypal merchant account?

Do i even need to setup paypal in the admin or do my customers just set it up on their own accounts?

Can someone give me step by step instructions please?!

Your members can set up there own paypal account with a link from your site to there paypal button, Look up paypal /buisness.

You can check out this download www.cogzidel.com/products/RBS. Its a bidding/aution download similar to e-bay, That may work for you.

Good Luck

As your members list their products on your site, they would then set a link to their paypal account is the way it works I believe.

Basically they would set up there paypal account and then place a link at check out ,or with a purchase agreement to direct them to their site, or their paypal account, good question for paypal, if you can get support, it can be hard to do sometimes,LOL

Ok thanks "sandalsonly"!

I have one more request. I would like to know what the items in the paypal setup are and how to find the account information in paypal:

Home/Dashboard/Payments/settings

Business email: (What email address should go here?)

Process type: (How do i find out the correct type?)

Connection type: (How do i find out the best connection type?)

Identity token: (What is it? How do i find it?)

Sandbox: (Where do i find this?)

Do you have a PayPal account? If not, you need to signup for an account. Then you can setup and confirm the e-mail address that you want to use for your site: (i.e.) sales@mydomain.com. If you have an account, then you can go to your profile and set up your IPN, return URL's and many other things that you can configure. You will need to setup and activate your IPN to get a token.

Plus you can setup a Sandbox account to use for testing your account and IPN prior to going live..

You should be able to get that from your profile area. I have to go look again. The only thing i see right at the moment is that if you members wnat to sell from the store; and i think this was mentioned upabove, is that thay will have to use their own account and add individual Payment Buttons by embedding the code with their product description?? I have not tried to do that yet, but I did and I do have have paypal setup but Payment or Cart buttond do not automatically appear for anyone to purchase your products. So far the only place that they appear is for added membership levels, if you added your paypal e-mail in the setting but that does not solve the problem. I believe this is something thet the Boonx coders are going to have a fix for..I am not even sure if they have the IPN call backs in the code?

well said Jec1194!

It does seem like such a hastle, I havent used paypal personally because they wont allow adult content,

But I have talked with paypal abit to try to figure things out. and its not a simple task as it may seem!

But if you search for paypal and then go to the buisness section you can find out a little more, and there is a support person for sales that can help also, just dont go with the automated support, that was frustrating!

Good luck

Hi!

In PayPal Account, Profile: Website Payment Preferences --> Auto Return --> On: Return URL: What should it be there? Back to index page or some other page for inloged member?

IPN callback url for dolphin:

http://your-site.com/your-path/m/payment/act_finalize_checkout/

Is this documented anywhere?  I can't find anything resembling http://your-site.com/your-path/m/payment/act_finalize_checkout/ in my structure.

I did find

http://my-site.com/my-path/modules/boonex/payment

but nothing in there called resembling "act_finalize_checkout" - is this path you're giving for D7 or for an older build. My site is D7.

I too can't figure out what to put in my IPN thingie for paypal when setting up MY cart.

I am a complete and total newbie.

I was just told by my agent that in D7, you do NOT need the IPN callback that if you just put in your paypal ID, the callback is done automatically for upgrades with no need to set up IPN in Paypal or Dolphin.  I have not tested this yet but will do so in the next day or two when I get back into setting things up under the belly of the beast (today, other things have my attention).

However, that may be why I could not find the files/directory mentioned earlier for the callback IPN URL in my install.

Fingers crossed.
