Phone Field not showing 0 at start number

Most of my member's phone numbers start with a 0 but when they enter in their phone number into the field box, it drops the 0 at the start, even if I change that field to be a text field rather than a number field.

Any ideas why and how to fix?

The type of the phone number field is number, change this to text, to display the 0 at the beginning

I just created a profile field, type text and it displays the 0 for me, on the edit page and on the profile view page.

Hmm. I think it might be working now. I did clear the cache and all that. Interesting.
