Polls and Poll Vote Tracking

Researching how the polls and poll voting track are supposed to work?

it was my understanding that the member could vote once and only once on the poll. issue i am seeing is that a site with 690 members has a poll vote count in excess of the number of members. then in trying to track down what was going on, it appears the vote tracking stopped working, as there are only 6 records in the database.

of those six records, there are two USERID's that show voting that was from two different IP's. so why are the votes being tracked by IP rather than USERID?

is it possible to get that adjusted so that it tracks votes by UserID, and limits one vote per poll?

also seems to be some bug with the poll tracking. i voted on one poll, and it registered my IP in the table, and has the pollID listed with my IP. i then went and voted on a few other polls, and they were not tracked at all?

should the tracking not specifically track each and every vote, based on the IP and poll_ID?

can somebody confirm this is a bug, so we can get it reported and hopefully fixed?

would really like to confirm the poll tracking system has a bug, in that it records on IP on one Polls_ID, but if you vote on subsequent polls, its not being tracked.

following up on the bx_poll_voting_track

site_1 has 14 polls with excess of 1500 votes in total votes on the polls

bx_poll_voting_track has 9 records so of 1500 votes, only 9 votes have been tracked.

then looking at another site

Site_2 has one poll with total votes 185

bx_poll_voting_track has 2 records so of the 185 votes 2 have been tracked

so clearly there is some problem here with tracking the votes.

i guess not many are using the polls or are not concerned with the accuracy of the total tally. i would appreciate other  members who have polls to take a look at your database and see what is being tracked on the table bx_poll_voting_track?

I have not looked into this yet. I don't use the polls, so i would have to set some up for testing.

I have been having the same problem for ages now. Was hoping it would be fixed by now but obviously not.

Is anyone on the case? Does anyone have a solution for this? Polls are very popular on my site but results are becoming biased by multiple voters.
