Pop-Up Member Login Not Working!

Hello,

I recently paid Xxxxxxx to install one of their modifications for me. After Xxxxxxx installed the mod, two items stopped working:

1) The Member Login pop up stopped working on the index page. When the link is clicked in the header, the "shaded" overlay appears, but the login box is gone. Where is this function controlled? Which files?

2) In the Admin section, when I try and access Ray Admin (Admin --> Plugins --> Ray Suite), the control box no longer pops up. I get an Object Expected on line 360 of the admin/index.php - no other clue! I've tried replacing the index file, but it's somewhere else.

I have a feeling these two issues *might* be related, because they both use pop-up code?!

BTW, I did ask Xxxxxxx to look at and fix the issue twice, but I have had zero response.

Any help is much appreciated!

Thanks

Hard to say who knows what the mod or mods involve or what was changed. I can't say that this is your problem for sure but this can happen when you add certain lines to .htaccess file. It will prevent or block the member login pop-up.

It will also block the pop-up of the share files from happening too. Go to your Photo, Music, or Video Gallery. Login as a regular member...Select a file like a photo. Under the Photo File in the "Actions" Menu...click the share link. When you click the share link a window should pop-up that you can share it. If it opens and you get a little window with a 400x error or similar, then there is a good chance your .htaccess is blocking/preventing these from happening.

Mydatery,

Thanks for the response! I had already gone through your suggestion #2 prior to my post, and will try #1.

As far as the person who produces and installed the mod, obviously I would rather not say who it is. I have used their mods in the past without any trouble (installing them myself). In this instance, time was a factor so I paid to have the latest mod installed.

The person has a good reputation here. My apologies if I was coming across as bashing anyone - I was not attempting to. If that were the case, I would have mentioned the name. If I were to post the email messages I had sent, you would see that there wasn't accusations - just friendly requests for clues about the problems. I have had zero problems with any mod authors up until now.

Thanks again. I'll be sure to post the solution if I figure this one out!

If you would like anyone to give you a definitive answer on this, we need to know the name of your site and also the mod that was installed.  You can get the answer to this question, as to what was done by doing 2 things. . . . . .

. . . . . . By this post, it seems you probably sent this individual an e-mail that was accusatory instead of just a simple... Hey, appreciate your taking the time to install such and such mod... By the way, I can't seem to log in now?  Can you take a look?

gameutopia,

Thanks for your response! I am going to look in to the .htaccess file as you've suggested - that could very well be the problem.

Will post solution as soon as I get there!

gameutopia,

Doesn't appear to be an .htaccess issue after all. First I compared my .htaccess files pre and post mod addition, and they were identical.

Next I tried to get other pop-ups to work. Sure enough, trying the Share link works just fine. It popped up with no errors.

Has to be something to do with the ajax pop-ups. That's the only case on the front end and the back end. Inspecting the index page login with Firebug (mydatery's suggestion) just pointed to the ajax entries in general.css. Comparing pre and post general.css files now to see what may have changed there. . . . .

Thanks again!
