Premium Dolphin Hosting?

Are Dolphin site owners interested in premium hosting?  Or just the cheapest plan available that will run most of Dolphin?  Who cares about there sites YSlow score?

I ask because someone asked me to provide hosting for there Dolphin site, and I would like to know if others are looking for something better then the run of the mill shared hosting with out the cost of dedicated hosting.

Basic overview of what I'm providing for my client right now:

Hardware / Bandwidth: 4x 3.0 GHz CPU, 4 GB RAM, 500 GB Hard Disk, 3.3 TB bandwidth.

Apache for dynamic (php) content.

Nginx for static (images, js, css) content.

Content Delivery Network ( CDN ) for large static files.

Ffmpeg recompiled to support more formats.

Apache, Nginx, and MySQL have all been tuned for performance.

Most of the work for this client was updating Dolphin files to use a second URL for the static files or CDN. This increases parallel downloads, and greatly reduces the server load. Nginx is much faster then Apache and requires less CPU and memory.

What is your experience of NGinx and does Dolphin 7 work well with it?

It can make a huge improvement, and works well. But you still need Apache for non static content.

If I can get the rewrite rules and a few other things fixed, I may be able only use Nginx.

My host wants its customers to use NGinx. They also offer to rewrite the .htacces rules etc. Too big a step at this time I think!

Some of the other things that can be issues are xsl, mbstring, gd.

Well, if nginx is set to work as a reverse and caching proxy to Apache, you do not need to bother about the rewrite rules, as there is no reason for them not to be working. This is a very popular scenario for heavy trafficked networking websites within our company and it works pretty well -- the power of engine x (nginx) is utilized to transmit data to Apache web server, which greatly reduces server load.

If a Dolphin based website is producing between 15 and 20 server load average on a cPanel and Apache based webserver, when its traffic is high, once switched to nginx, which works as a proxy to Apache, the load drops to between 3 and 5, which, you will agree, is great performance improvement.

In short -- here is how it works:

Nginx listens on port 80 and Apache listens on port 81. When there is a http request, it is being serviced (and cached) by nginx, but proxied to Apache, which returns the results. It sounds complicated, but it is not, at all :)

6. when ever you call, it rings til you get the auto attendant put on hold for 5-10 minutes then the call cuts off.
i have told them this every-time i call their response " open a ticked and send a ticket and we will see if we can fix it.... WTF its been 3 weeks and u still got the same issue.

7. their are reading off a script and keep repeating the same thing over and over again.

**8.** after i send my log in info to transfer my site. my website was hacked 3 days later "great security" coincidence i think not!
