Hi, as some of you know, I am working to build an international
trade portal for California using Dolphin technology. Converting the
Dolphin dating script for use in business has been, to say the least, a
huge challenge. I am almost there, but I still have things in my site
that are pretty lame. Yesterday, I learned of a site in for Orange
County California that looked really clean and professional: http://ocean.collectivex.com.
Looking into it a bit further, I found that this is a service provider
called Collectivex that is similar to Ning but seems better. I've been
strugging with Dolphin for nearly a year, and someone has put this
together with very little effort - and in some ways it is better. I'm
not bitching about this too much - we can expect to see more of these
things in the future, but I know there are specialized server things I
will need that I couldn't get with a service provider. What did annoy
me, however, is when I looked at the profile page they had a nice clean
button that indicated "Online" or "Offline". What is so hard about
that?! I really don't get "Presence" - it doesn't seem to work and
opens in a little window that always seems to be the wrong size. Why
can't this be fixed.
