Hey Guys, Have a Problem.
I was on Arvixe servers until I they tried to scam me for the last time, and I just moved to Joombyte, ( great BTW! ) but after the move I'm having a problem.
all I did was transplant the site from one server to another, and uploaded my database, changed the MYSQL login information and the site works except for some photos, music and videos. its confusing to me, because any new files work fine. I'm trying be able to view the older files like normal. I know the files are there, because I tracked the images down from looking at the code and my database to the directory in my server.
I'm a novice at this so please be easy on me if I over looked anything. Any information for the files would be in 'system_modules_file_tracks' right? they show up on listed on the site, but with grayed out images.
Last resort would be to just remove from the site all together, but thats allot of content to take away, Can someone help me?

Could be a permission or ownership issue with the photos/files that are not showing up.
Make sure the files are all owned by the same user and have the proper permissions. (User is probably your FTP login username)

I agree. When moving sites to another server it is quite often the file and directory permissions setup when installing dolphin are wrong and need to be corrected.
You also need to make sure the cache, cache_public and tmp folders are writable and empty after a move to another server. Only the original .htaccess file in any of those 3 directorys are to be there after a site is moved.

Thanks guys. Checked permissions, they are O.K. and I always clear my Caches, number 1 rule (:
Problem is still there, but I think Anton is going to help me, I gave him my FTP info.
Its just confusing, because Avatars Work, didn't have an issue with that. and SOME of the older pictures, MP3's and Video work. just not the Majority. I don't know where to even begin to fix this problem ):

Their shared hosting kept giving me problems. I started off with one of their most basic packages, and within 3 months I was forced to upgrade 3 different times until I was placed on a Dedicated server. Find out that they pushed me to pay more, for no reason at all. Be careful with them, Allot of people claim they rip off their clients, I am on the middle of the fence, because their support will work with you ( if you call them ), but they kept shutting me down on Holidays and without warning. they say they would Never do that unless it was vital to the server, but come on, my site generates on average 200 unique hits a day, not enough to knock a server offline. They would tell me on the phone that modules/index.php is using too much server and I needed to upgrade. After checking with Better Business Burrow and this Forum, I moved to Joombyte. They are amazing! faster that Arvixe, and I am on a shared server! My Video Comments work now and their support answers my tickets within the hour. Well worth the Money Saved. |
O.K. I'm not sure what I did, but now I'm having problems with my users blogs. Any page in the Blogs module you visit, including the one in Admin, it sends me to a page that says Profile is not available for view. Worked fine for the past week.
I checked the permissions, it is set to 755 for the whole blogs folder. It is selected even for guest to view. What the hell is happening?

I also just move my site
and I don't see the photos, only when I start session with admin view photos
When a user starts session cannot see any photos
Anyone have any idea?

Just a suggestion... go to you admin panel and under advanced settings template, turn off all cacheing and then look at the site. If this works you can then turn cacheing back on and clear the caches. I seem to recall having to do something similar once. Shared Dolphin Hosting w/RMS |
