Problem in Sites after Dolphin 7.3.3 update

I'm running into a 500 error when navigating to the Home Page of the Sites Module, since updating to Dolphin 7.3.3. And to make it more difficult, I'm using the Modzzz Ultimate Sites module, which uses some of the functionality of the Dolphin Sites module. Would any please take a look at this and let me know how I can approach an effective solution. Each time when this link is accessed "http://autismanimated.com/dolph/m/sites/home/" the following error is generated:

PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined method BxSitesTemplate::comment_unit() in /home/autisman/public_html/dolph/modules/boonex/sites/classes/BxSitesSearchResult.php on line 479

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you ever resolve the problems? I updated my site and its seem like everything went wrong, videos, photos, sound. Plus all of my mods I purchased are not compatible.

modzzz's mods can sometimes be a problem like this - I really wish he'd release his own self-contained modules and just update them with the BoonEx code after each release.

You need to re-apply his mod's files. So re-upload the /modules/boonex/sites folder from his download. Do the same for any other mods that replace BoonEx modules.

@Vashan: If it's the pre-install compatibility check, the vendor likely has hard-coded version numbers that haven't been updated for 7.3.3. You can just edit the module's /install/config.php file and add the new version. However, there still may be compatibility issues, but it's rare for these kinds of releases.

That could be done but how would someone who already has the Boonex Sites module with say 100 entries already but want the advanced features that mine offer be able to upgrade if I released a entirely separate sites module ? Your suggestion is appreciated.

I have to agree with Modzzz here; members don't like losing content and many are not competent enough to be able to do manual exports and imports to reclaim content.  Modzzz offers excellent support so the OP should have first went to Modzzz's support forum and asked about the issue after upgrading.

Have you looked into creating an import utility to convert current Sites/Groups/etc. data? I think that would be better in the long run, but I know it's not a fun idea.

I'm not questioning the quality of support or the quality of these mods - to do all this takes a lot of work and adds much-needed features. But it can be a problem come upgrade time with the way it's done. It definitely requires more attention and some extra work.

All that needs to be done after a Dolphin upgrade is to re-upload the files from my module (which takes less than a minute). If I go the route that you are suggesting, the clients will still have to re-upload the module files after a Dolphin upgrade so really there is no added benefit (in my humble opinion). I think I will just update the readme.txt to specifically state that the module files must be re-uploaded after a Dolphin upgrade.

HI Nathan, Modzzz and all -

I just wanted to clarify that it only took a day or so to get everything cleared up and working correctly when updating the Modzzz Ultimate Sites module to Dolphin 7.3.3. There wasn't really that much to do, and I misunderstood some of the instructions in the Readme.txt file in the update package. Once I got over that, it went very well and I'm super happy with how the whole thing is working.

Modzzz has earned his reputation for excellent support and I'm thankful for that. I'd have to say I came away completely satisfied with the results, and also I appreciated his patience with my own errors during the process.

We currently have around 40-50 sites in our Sites section, and it's getting known as one of the best parts of our community. We haven't really touched a lot of the main power of rating, and so forth, but it is there. And also hats off to Brandon at "ShrinkTheWeb" for his part in the website capture utility, which has worked flawlessy with Boonex Dolphin so far.

You are welcome to drop by for a visit to see what you think - http://autismanimated.com/dolph/m/sites/home/

Thanks much, CHOPS
