Profile picture and avatar behavior

Hello,

I'm having trouble to understand the behavior of avatars and profile pictures.

Why is it the user's avatar displayed on his comments?

Why is it the user's profile picture displayed on his posts (blogs/events) and in the "People/Search" pages?

For next versions of Dolphin, could we have only ONE PHOTO for avatar and profile picture ?

This is especially annoying since profile pictures are kept privates on my website since I've disabled the public privacy group (and setting visibility to members by default is not working in current version, see http://www.boonex.com/trac/dolphin/ticket/3502).

No, because they are two different animals.  Do a search on here and see if you can find the explanations I have already stated a few times.

An  avatar is NOT a profile photo.  If you don't want avatars on your site, then don't install the avatar module and all the thumbs on the site can come from the profile photo.  It is that simple.

On the contrary, as Profile pictures are not showing on my website (public privacy group bug), I would be glad if I had only the "Avatar" showing everywhere (and not the profile picture showing everywhere)

Go into admin, then settings, then to advanced settings then to Profiles.  In there find the settings for Member Thumb and Member Thumb Icon and make sure both are set to use the Avatar.

My apologies, I read your post too quickly and did not understand that you were having an issue with the thumbs settings.

Thank you Deano for your help, I had never noticed those settings before!

Problem solved for my part :)

Again, I misread your post differently.  In my defence, I helped someone with a similar question not long ago.
