Promotional Membership Not Working...

All of a sudden new members are getting the Standard membership level and I have to "downgrade" them to the promotional level.

I have the promotional membership flag checked on and set it for 14 days.  Any idea why this is doing that?

Dolphin 6.1.6 fresh install (that is to say not an upgraded install)

Anybody?

This is important as I am projecting an influx of new members coming in as my ad campaigns start going out.

I don't really want to adjust each one manually.

Don't know if this will solve the issue, but I noticed that it happends to me also, but I noticed that the promotion status doesn't show for those who haven't confirmed their e-mail,,,Unless someone confirms the e-mail, the script will not see them valid and will show as standard, once they confirm, they are on promotion...Hope this helps...

I have the site set to not have users confirm their email, with auto-activation put into place.

Any other ideas?

I guess this is a known issue with 6.1.6?  Can Anyone shed light on this?  Why isn't this being addressed by the programmers?

My users are getting a FREE Ride due to this error.  Can ANYONE shed light on this???

While you find the solution, why don't you just flip the membership levels promotional to be standard level till you can solve it..

I have several that are already in the Standard for some reason.  I am thinking/hoping/praying that the D7 will fix this, but waiting until it is released is making me a bit nervous.  Also, some strange field errors are cropping up which might be part of it.  See this link for my original still unanswered thread..

for the users already under standard you can go into the admin panel click on members then click on the member id number for each user and edit there profile/membership from there.

then go a head and do what micky said about fliping the memberships around.

Here lies the problem with editing users.  (I get a field issue)  See the afformentioned thread I pointed to, I cannot edit members.  I probably can via the database, but at the moment, don't want to go in there as I have 2 other big projects on my plate with databases and don't want to confuse anything at this point.

ok i just did this on my site and it works wonders......

backup and open join.php

Above:
//send new user notification

Add:
//promotion
if( getParam('enable_promotion_membership') == 'on' ){
$daysnumber = getParam("promotion_membership_days");
$vRes = db_res( "INSERT INTO `ProfileMemLevels` (`IDMember`, `IDLevel`, `DateStarts`, `DateExpires`, `TransactionID`) VALUES ('{$iMemID}', '3', '', '', '')" );
$vRes = db_res( "UPDATE `ProfileMemLevels` SET `DateStarts` = NOW( ) ,`DateExpires` = (NOW() + INTERVAL $daysnumber DAY) WHERE `IDMember` = '{$iMemID}'" );
}
//promotion end

first couple lines make sure it uses admin settings so if you change your mind,,,,have fun!!

make sure to thank MRPOWLESS  for that one...

good luck

I have made that change.  Right now I have disabled the pay memberships until D7 comes out and I can verify if it will have CCBILL as an option and I can configure it totally.

Everyone at the moment has a free membership and after I sent out a mass mail to them (not from Dolphin due to the mass mail issues with 6.1.6), the site picked up from 0 hits daily to 10 today (Since last night's emailing) after I let everyone know it was free for a limited time.

My site still has the language issue at the moment.  The profile fields are a bit skewed.  I am about ready to wipe site clean and do a fresh install yet again to see if that fixes it, but don't want to if D7 hits us within the next few days as formerly estimated in one of the blogs a while back by the Boonex team.
