I got asked how the public group works.
Example:
- make blog
- set view, rate, comment to public
Non member can see that blog but not comment or rate. Why?

No explanation? It's a bug then? |
The default group module does not have a blog, it has the forum. If you are using the group blog module and seeing issues, then contact the developer or post to the support forum for the module if one exists. Geeks, making the world a better place |
RE: The default group module does not have a blog,
When he said "public group", I believe he was referring to the "public" privacy group. My opinions expressed on this site, in no way represent those of Boonex or Boonex employees. |

I may be that blog comment or blog rate are not allowed in the corresponding membership level actions. Membership level actions take precedence over privacy settings. A privacy setting cannot provide greater permissions than are allowed by membership level. My opinions expressed on this site, in no way represent those of Boonex or Boonex employees. |
It's a bug then? It's not a bug, but it's poorly implemented. For instance on this blog post: http://houstonlively.com/blogs/entry/Public-Blog-Test-Post Non members can comment on this post, but for them to do so, you have to allow the global posting of comments in the non-member membership level. There is no individual control to allow posting of comments on blogs only. In that regard, control of comment posting by non members, has a lot of room for improvement. Thanks this helped. So privacy group 'Public' is kind of an alias for System Level 'Non-member'? |

Public = anyone that is NOT logged in.... including bots. I was surprised to find that I could post a comment as a 'guest' without having to at least fill out a catcha field. If public comments are allowed, there's not much to stop comment spamming. My opinions expressed on this site, in no way represent those of Boonex or Boonex employees. |
