Question before I make another mistake

I'm in the process of moving host, question is:

My Dolphin site already has all the paths set to the previous host, would I have to change the path on only the inc/header or will I have to do a complete install..

I was thinking of doing this:

path looks like this for example:

home/myprevioususername/public_html

Keep my previous user name on the new host so the path stays the same, becuase if I change username, all paths would have to be changed correct?

Thanks..

It'll be easy if you're using cPanel.

Just need to do a full backup with the "Backup" icon in cPanel.

Go into the new hosting cPanel (with same domain name) and restore the backup. All files and mySQL databases will be duplicated.

Then go to your domain name registrar to point the DNS to the new hosting. All should be like before.

Thanks for the reply, problem is that when you install Dolphin on your site, it creats the paths, in that path is included your username to your acount, and was wondering if I had to change any paths beside the inc/header on the new server..Thanks..

If you are referring to inc/header.inc.php then yes, I believe the path in that file is the only thing you would have to change. Dolphin doesn't seem to care where you put it as long as the header.inc.php file is happy.

If anyone knows of something else to check I would be extremely interested in knowing about it.

I must say, for such a complex piece of software Dolphin is extremely easy to move.

Thanks much, That's what I thought but with the script having so many files, I want to verify it's only one file and not 50 others files, otherwise maybe i can just change my account user name on my new host to match the path to all files..If anyone can please confirm..Thanks.

If it's full migration from one cPanel to another, just make sure the new cPanel username is the same as the old one and there is probably nothing you need to edit.

$dir['root']               = "/home/xxxxx/public_html/dolphin/";

where xxxxx - same cPanel username.

I've just migrated one Dolphin to another web server without no issue though.

Thanks, I found that to be the easiest solution, that way all the paths don't need to be edited, I requested to my new host to provide the change and it was done...Thanks for your reply...Cool
