RMS is Ray Media Server Built upon the RED5 / OSFLASH project which provided a real-time port "1935" to manage streaming occurences. Basically all came together about 3+ years ago with the "hatered" toward Marcomedia Server and Flash Media Server by Adobe. What you'll remember most about this time is the IE ActiveX Control Grey Box around Flash SWF files. This commercial attitude set off a string of OSGeeks to build an open protocol for swf/flv which Boonex adopted into RMS.

If you do not USE streaming A/V for Chat,Video,IM,Boards then you DO NOT need RMS. As RMS is only for streaming occurences and recording. Plan on using WebCams in your site/community you need RMS!

RE: i dont realy no wat u talking about my friend

UFO, RMS (Ray Media Server)  is a program that runs on a server, and it is necessary for video chat and many other parts of Dolphin to work.  The RMS handles all video streaming.  To set this up by yourself on your own server is probably more than you are ready to deal with, and you must also have a dedicated server to set it up.  If your site is on a shared server, you can not run your own RMS.

There are RMS hosting providers that can help you set this up.  Subscribing to this service will cost you about $8 per month to start off with, and more if your site becomes busy.

Send me a PM and I'll give you a name of a service you can subscribe to.  I don't want to discuss service provider names in public.  All you have to do, is subscribe to their service, which you can pay for with Paypal, and they can usually have you set up in 24 hours or less.  Then, all you will have to do is enter the IP address for your new RMS service in Dolphin admin section, along with a few other settings.  It is very easy.

My opinions expressed on this site, in no way represent those of Boonex or Boonex employees.

Below is the legacy version of the Boonex site, maintained for Dolphin.Pro 7.x support.
The new Dolphin solution is powered by UNA Community Management System.
