RMS Host Port and RMS Hosting

Maybe I'm coming off in the wrong way. I was informed that maybe my hosting company had not opened the port necessary for me to be able to use RMS. I asked, then what port would they need opened.

There are quite a few ports .....

Now, I'm showing my ignorance to RMS and how it works.

What I need to know, I believe, is what port is needed for this to correctly work?

Plus, if all you need is to have your domain listed on a RMS host list, for you to work with that host. Why not charge users a nominal fee. Less then hosting, on account your using less resources, and create a shared RMS fee for around a buck $1.00 (USD) a month. This would be fair, and would be a win win situation for all concerned.

This way, there won't be as much traffic hitting one server.

Just a idea.

Hmmm. Well I told you I was ignorant when it came to RMS.

Now, my age.... I'm probably older then you mate.... I'm 56, and Have drunk more then my fair share of Fosters, and I have been in telecommunications probably a lot longer then you.  Not to mention being a Webmaster. Heck I was one of those a decade before there was a web. Except for maybe spider webs. I guess the bottom line is, you have to go to a hosting company that has the RM server script on it, or your hmm screwed.

I didn't realize all that goes on with this, and that's what I meant by the resource usage.

Not to mention, any real experience with this script. To be insulting, is piss poor customer service, and I doubt that Boonex, or whatever they were called when they sold this as a dating script would appreciate negative sort of service if you work for them.

Now I was told by a earlier post, that my host server may not have the open port needed to communicate with the boonex servers rms. That is why I asked which port would they need open. Just a innocent question so I can run this wonderful program with all of it's fantastic features.

I will refrain from asking any more silly, dumb, ignorant, or just plan dumb ass questions again.

After all, we are all in this to learn and to teach others what we know.

That is a thing I like to call Life.
