Ray A/V Chat access levels

Hi All,

Is it possible to set different access levels for the Ray Chat ?  I'd like to acheive the following

Membership Level 1 = View Chat only (not able to input text or video)

Membership Level 2 = Access to Full Chat (Text, audio, video) But with access limits - e.g Can be used twice in 24 hours - I've tried using Manage Actions to apply this to the chat but it doesn't appear to apply to AV chat.

Membership Level 3 = Access to full chat with no time restrictions.

Thanks in advance for your help !

Can this be done using the "User Types" setting in the flash chat settings panel  ?

http://www.boonex.com/unity/forums/topic/User-Types-How-Use-them-in-A-V-Chat-.htm - This is along the lines of what I need.

hi,

first of all, i am also new to dolphin, so i might be wrong with what i say .. i am only assuming!

i guess the different user types are specified in the next field.

newly joined users can have : full, text, view

i guess this relates to the different user levels on the platform itself where you can set e.g. promo accounts, vip accounts etc...

(as i said, i may be wrong)

kind regards, biggi

Hi Biggi, thanks for your reply, it sounds logical and makes sense to me so I've tried it out but no success.  The member levels dont seem to have any relation to the "user types" in the flash AV chat.  Any further suggestions would be appreciated.....

I had just got this worked out in D6, and we decided to go with D7 now. Many great changes, and released about when announced - amazed :)

Just have to figure this one out within 3 weeks now, and I'll be a happy camper.

The repliy I have got yesterday from boonex said this was removed from membership-levels, and has to be set manually.
Awaiting a bit more specific info now, gotten quick replies and expect they will come through soon.

Tried to manually change "Type" for a userID in "RayChatProfiles" (sql-database),
but this alone has not had effect here.
Also tried setting default "User type" in ray-chat-settings to "Text", still not happening.

I've subscribed to this thread, and I'll do my best to remember posting answer when we get there. :)

Ideally I'd like to have one permission for each action..
0    Not showing either video-box, video-icon next to names (or even video-dock)
1(s) Send  (showing the actual video box where you click play)
2(r) Receive or "view" (not needing to show play button for own video - only click others and view in dock.
3(sr)  Send-Receive

When connecting to rms.boonex.com from prime-license (unchecking Use-ray in settings),
the chat appears without the video-box.  I just did this for a test, boonex server is not to be used for prime - and probably why this nicely removes the box. This is exactly what one would expect from the "Text" usertype..
That is probably what first poster antz1066 want for Membership level 1.

For Membership level 2:
Antz.. You mean you first clicked to the membership page for level2, and then clicked "use chat" - and tried setting limits in the popup?
And this did not work in D7?     (It certainly worked in D6, where there was both "use chat" and "use ray chat" - wich was the key then for me)

Having theese options available is what keeps our site alive, covers the bandwidth and such.
I believe this is the same for many that host their own RMS. (or running from AOL/Userplanes superexpensive version of much the same thing)
Also options to allow different memberships to have different number in dock is a good one. (like 3 for free users, instead of n..)
And quality of video also. (possibly not very easy, if not planned for in rms)

I wanted to bump this thread, and point out that this has impact on many sites...
I actually dont mind at this time, since 3 of our closest competitors have had to use 123FlashChat for their sites instead - and just looks bad to mix and match with those if you ask me. So when we do get this sorted, hopefully it will be great.
We can give videochat free for some time, but not all can do so.

I'd rather install 2-3 different chats for users, since several instances can share users. (moved old version to subfolder - users from both seen in both ) or just spend some time with the code (best solution, but really should be boonex's job in this case - not ours).

But I keep my fait in our agents quick replies and insight in dolphin+rayserver operations.
And I'll be sure to share the answer when we get there.
