Ray Media Server

What exactly is the Ray Media Server?

The Ray Media Server is a type of server software to allow the use of more features with some Flash applications, namely audio and video communication. By using the Media Server, the following becomes available:

• Audio/video communication in Chat application
• Audio/video communication in Messenger application
• Creation of video comments
• Use of the Board application

I'm sure that I missed something, but that pretty much sums it all up.

To use the Media Server on your own, you will need either a VPS or Dedicated web hosting package, since you must have administrative (root) privileges to use the server software. If you cannot host the Media Server yourself, there are many companies which offer Media Server hosting at competitive prices.

So having this installed on my social network is not a must right? Sounds a bit complicated and complex for me at this time. I am just getting started.

Not it is not a must but if you want the features that Magnussoft mentioned then your will need RMS.
