well as is typical here, i posted a really nice explanation on video comments and how to basically troubleshoot, then when i hit submit, it said i was not logged in. beeches.
at any rate,
video comment and RMS functions from what i have been able to ascertain, in the following manner:
you invoke the video comment
if RMS is connecting, then the system uses the av streaming mechanisms from red5 to stream the recording.
if you are not connecting, at all, then you have an issue with your RMS either the app is not setup correctly on serverside, or some other issue. this would require assessment of your actualy RMS configuration.
once you are finished with the recording, the video is sent back to your server
cron job files for conversion
ffmpeg is triggered for the conversion process which was just triggered by the cron job
the video converts and is stored in its allocated path
if cron is not setup correctly this presents problems
if ffmpeg has incorrect permissions this presents problems
if file folder has incorrect permissions this presents problems
if RMS is not on your localhost, you could be experiencing a timeout situation
if php is not configured with recommended configuration from the developers this could present problems.
so as you can see, RMS and video comments is a multi-faceted entity, whereas there is no cut and paste solution.
there are many variables that all must coincide for fluidity and overall precision.
Hi,
I have the same problem. The link provided by Adminmysite displays a page but with no instructions on what to do on it or even what RMS is? Please help me with a fix, not just a cause
Thanks,
Adam
