Refresh to see change?

Hi,

I'm working on my site and I'm still testing a lot of things.
I'm faced with an important issue though. Every time I add an item, write something on the wall, change a setting, ... Do anything, I need to refresh the page to see it. If I don't, I get the old page, with the old links, ...

I disabled all caching. But honestly, this looks more like the browser is caching then that the server is caching. If this would be the case (browser cache), why does this not happen with facebook using the same browser?

The configs look like this:

Enable cache for HTML files: off
kdkd dd

Template cache engine (other than FileHtml option may require custom server setup):

                                    FileHtml
Enable cache for CSS files: off

Enable cache for JS files: off

Enable compression for JS/CSS files(cache should be enabled): off

Enable DB cache: off

DB cache engine (other than File option may require custom server setup):

                                    File
Memcached server host: none
Memcached server port: none

Enable page blocks cache: off

Page blocks cache engine (other than File option may require custom server setup):

                                    File
Member menu cache engine (other than File option may require custom server setup): off

Ok, it's not a browser problem, unless it is induced by Dolphin ...

Any suggestions?

i dont know what causes this problem but i'll try to trace it with you ..

1- are you using any template other than the default ...?

2- have you modified the template .. ?

about the cash thing sure it's not causing that .. but anyways you should enable it back cuz if not that will cause load on the server .. and if you are in shared host that may cause your account to be suspended when there is some ppl surfing the site

if i did help you .. it wont hurt to go to my profile and add a recommendation for me ;)

Nazzal,

Yes, I'm using a custom template. However, I'm having the problem from before using the template.

For the cache ... At the moment the site is still in beta. I'll enable some caching when it's public. I'm also using a dedicated server. I might see how far the load gets with and without ...

Thanks for wanting to help out :)

@DRautenbach: As soon as I know the solution, I'll let you know :)

alright.. so could you please send me the link to your site to see the problem ..

this way we can eliminate the possibility of browser error and we should look into the code .

Hey,

Thanks for testing! Did you also do the following?
- create a new content (comment, topic, ...), leave the page and come back, without refreshing the page?
This causes the problem for me.
Ofcourse it might be a browser issue, though I think it would be strange, seeing this is the only website doing like this ...

I'm  using Chrome. Let me check the java. *checking the browser prefs*
The settings are like this:
JavaScript Allow all sites to run JavaScript (recommended)

Thanks

Update:

Aparently there IS a problem with Chrome ... [Thread by annoyed developers]
I'll already start looking for a solution there :)

Seems to be working fine in opera with the cache disabled.

Lets hope google builds in an option to disable the cache then ...

Is there a plugin perhaps that automatically reloads the page when there's activity (like facebook)?

Thanks
