Replacing menu

Heya! I have replaced the menu with static menu and am wondering how I can still use the varables like {memberNick} and such because I have shortcuts on the menu to direct to content based on the members name and such. Is there something I can include in _sub_header.html to make href's render these variables? Or is there another way to call a url like /m/photos/albums/my/add_objects/MEMBERS-NAME/owner/MEMBERSNAME  ? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

The problem with the default menu and all the css menus I have tried is with tablets and android/iphones. When you "tap" to bring down the menu it just takes you to where the main menu item is linked instead of dropping the menu down. Even if you remove the main link to the top menu item it just takes you back to the homepage when you "tap" and dosen't drop down. Any solutions?

Thanks!

So I think I am almost there!! My thought is to use the echo getNickName(); function to do an inline replacement for the href, but not sure what files have to me included in _sub_header.html for these functions to be available for my menu code?  I know the inc/classes/BxDolProfileQuery.php has the function for getNickName but including it isn't enough. Is there a way to expose all the dolphin functions to   _sub_header.html ???

Thanks

If it's a static menu you're after, this might help you.

The problem I am having is since _sub_header.html is called from somewhere else it won't run php code :( . Really strange I can put php code in call it directly from a browser and it works , but something about the way it is called kills the php if I just goto the site. I looked at his standalone menu from houston but it's a little different outcome, not looking to break the menu out , just looking at dumping the dolphin menu for something static , but nicer. I grab the member id from the cookie and mysql query to resolve to a name no problem, just can't get php to render in _sub_header.html (I did add this file to my .htaccess so it gets parsed for php). Maybe I need to put my menu code somewhere else and not in this file? I just dumped __top_menu__ from _sub_header.html , copied my menu code in and whoop there it is, but for some crazy reason I can not do any php/mysql in this file and of course don't have access to the global variables because the php includes don't work. ERRRR fml

Now I am just super curious! Very simple question I would think for anyone that knows dolphin... How come when I put php code inside of page_1.html (I added page_1.html to my .htaccess to parse for php) it is ignored? If I call this file directly it runs my php , but within dolphin it is ignored.  Crazy stuff

At this point it looks like I am talking to myself but maybe someone will find it useful one day. I created an entry in the dolphin database in the table sys_injections and put my php code in there, then called it in the template file using bx_injection.

No interest in making the menus compatible with ipad/honeycomb/iphone/android??? I mean your not actually relying on the mobile app I hope...

unfortunately, the entirety of dolphin is not compatible with the iFamily 100%, and the only functionality you are going to get is from the mobile app, in most cases.

i take it you have missed the many complaints about dolphin not being compatible with IE8 and IE9? i would think there are more users having problems with the browser than there are with issue or users on an iFamily product.

I have found it to be a ton of small tweaks. The only functionality that doesn't work on my motorola xoom or android EVO is the menu, and I managed to replace that pretty easily. The culture of boonex seems to be to gripe and proposition people to trade help for curriency who ask questions in the boards. (no one who responded on this thread)

Hey boonex , gpl the code , make it badgeware free, accept patchs and devlope bad ass commercial addons and paid support.

This half ass open core dosen't work ... ask eucalyptus.

A massive install base breads revenue, interest, BUG FIXES.

and no one wants to use badgeware....

lots of problems with the current model and I really think it has effected the quality of dolphin.
