Riddle me this Batman?

If the coding for most every module that uses the map for location and the admin has the original map location correct but it changes when an update is made to the, let's use "groups" for this discussion, map then is there a way in the mysql database to LOCK the original geocodes or the lat and long in the database so that it can't be overwritten by the what seems to be after the fact coding that changes the lat and long or geocodes......that seems to use a zipcode reference instead of the admins correct location which should be used but is over written bc of a change????.   That was a mouthful.......
