Root domain, subdomain or subdirectory

Just curious if it matters at all where Dolphin is placed. I'm going to add it as a community solution for a health and fitness site I'm working on. There's already a site set up for the company and we're adding the community to it. Dolphin will of course have it's own database where ever it's placed I was just curious about the pros and cons or which is the best place to have the script - It's own domain with a link from the main fitness site: A sub-domain of the main site: Or a sub-directory of the main site.

What are your thoughts?

Howdy,

Where ever you place it will be perfectly ok.  Since it will be a feature of your site and not your main site, you will have a link on the homepage to your community where ever you decide to place it.  http://www.yourdomain.com/community for example will work perfectly ok.  If you want to create a sub-domain for it, then http://community.yourdomain.com will work to.  May make it a little easier to remember and type in for members who want to go directly to your Dolphin script.

It is just what ever you prefer.  Hope this helps!

Thanks jctwebsites - I didn't think it made a difference but wanted to make sure. As I said above, Dolphin will have it's own database for sure though.

Below is the legacy version of the Boonex site, maintained for Dolphin.Pro 7.x support.
The new Dolphin solution is powered by UNA Community Management System.
