SEO tips.

i know some people have written in blogs and forum about SEO. but some of them are very basics.

i have done most of those to improve my page rank.

could some of you write some more advanced SEO tips on how to improve our site rank and make our site more often visible in search engine.

thanks a lot.

Be patient, one dose not become highly ranked over night. As you can't wait for people to reply in there own time, I doubt you will have any luck waiting for your search rankings to grow organically...

Other then that, content is king.

With SEO and Google - the main player - Tips generally ARE opinons, as no one knows for sure how Google works.

I recommend that you give everyone an idea of what you have done - both as an act of giving (forums are supposed to be give and take), and also to let those who may be able to help you, understand what you have already implemented.

Regards.

PS LeatherSportB is correct - rankings are not necessarily something that happen overnight, especially with competitive keywords / phrases. The age of the site also plays a part.

I suggest you consult the websites and forums dedicated to SEO - and make your own opinion on the issue

for me the basics of SEO

1 - choose a domain name in connection with your activity

2 - Include key words on the pages of your site

3- write texts on your site related to your business

4 - register your site in directories

5 - make links with keyword pointing to your site - on - sites, forums, blogs, social networks

So far I've posted a few things about SEO in the blogs section.  I'll write the next segment in a few days.

Basically, the most important thing is link building.

You need to get other sites to link to yours using different variations of your keywords in and around the anchor text.

If you don't know what keywords are, you should read my last two blog posts.

You should find sites that are similar to your niche.

Getting a link on a totally irrelevant site doesn't help that much.

Also, you should try to get links from sites with high PR (Page Rank).

However, Page Rank doesn't really mean that much (long story...I'll explain in my next blog post).

Where to get links:

a. request links

b. exchange links

c. directories

d. forum signatures

c. blog posts (dofollow)

d. article submissions

e. press releases

f. purchase links (oops, did I really say that)

g. etc.

I'll explain it all in detail in my next blog post.

to optimize a dolphin site for seo is really hard work....and you have to work every day on it, not one time seo and that´s it...

the biggest problems in dolphin (all infos and urls are found in google webmaster tools):

- duplicate content - all sites with templates or languages to change have duplicate content - so they should be blocked through robots.txt

- too many sites have the same page title and description

- DC - urls are found by searchengines with big and small letters - f.e. /blogs/entry/boonex or /blogs/entry/BOONEX

- DC - url´s from ajax blocks with tabs and variables f.e. /?bx_events_filter=popular&page=1&per_page=5

- too many errors for w3.org validator

- pagespeed - but this is not a problem from boonex - more the webmasters make the mistakes - sometimes i come on sites where i make installations and really get crazy - every block from all modules are on index site - flash in headers - drop down menus - the site loads and loads - if i would be a visitor of that site i wouldn´t come back - think about which informations are important for the visitor - too much content and too much links are not good for the visitor - he doesn´t know where to start and click - so i have a event site, so my vistors are interested in events and maby locations - take a look at my site www.ue30-party.com - no errors in w3.org validator, no drop down for visitors but for members, only a few blocks with no tabs, cache is disabled and take a look at the pagespeed (95% google page speed) - sometimes less informations are more!

so try to work with webmaster tools.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i could write now so many things about seo and dolphin but i think this is enough for the first and you have much to do to fix all this.

- fix the problems with duplicate content

- work with webmaster tools - there you find all duplicate pagetitles and description - urls and erros

- make unique page titles

- think about your layout on index site

- fix the problems in validator of w3.org

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

the important thing for seo is:

unique content and make it easy shareable !!!

content content content content content content content....

According to Google webmaster tools, my site is slower than 93% of sites on the internet.

This is the one thing that drives me absolutely crazy!!!!

I've done everything I can to make my site fast, but it is still way too slow.

I know we've discussed this issue in dozens of other threads here in unity, but still not to my satisfaction.

My site is on a fast server.  The index page usually loads in approximately 8 seconds.

My average load time across my site is also about 8 seconds per page.

You can check yours at http://tools.pingdom.com/

I use a handful of online tools to check my site.

I really hope that this 7.0.3 really is a bit faster.

Why did I bring all this up? Because site speed is an important part of SEO!

90% visitors from searchengines are from google

google is not interested in meta keywords anymore

please read the links i send you before:

http://www.vaughns-1-pagers.com/internet/google-ranking-factors.htm

there you see where the keywords must be like often in content, page title,description,h1-h6 tags etc...., and also very important, the keyword must be in the link you sent from a other site

there i have 303 different relevant keywords under the top3 and 1800 under top 10

seo, simple

I have couple sites listed top ten on google.. you just need to be specific..

google search "jacksonville video chat" should be duvallocals.com, first on the list, not even remotely similar to site name...it's the keywords and backlinks

only for jacksonville florida but I'm listed 1st on google, and site has only been up since january.

the key for me and my other sites that are not dolphin, is time and website title...

It is in the keywords, more important are the added meta tags to your site...manually

one problem of dolphin for SEO is with accentuate characters in content titles

For example, an event called:  "soirée à la plage"... will have an URL like this  "soir-e-la-plage"  and these are no more real words... so it's bad for SEO (tags words in pages title are really important)

Any tips on how to correct this ?
