SMTP MAILER

Almost all items are working perfectly on my new trial site. However, what has practically hit a solid wall is the SMTP Mailer. It is not working.

What I need to mention is that I use Google Apps for work (paid). My organisational emails are all routed through Google mail interface (Gmail). The necessary MXRecord changes have been done in my Webserver Control Panel.

I asked for advise from Google Support. They have given me some suggestions. However, it is not working.

Also, in the begining itself, they had given me this cautionary note: Please do note Admin, as you're integrating a third party product our support will be limited and we may need to bring in Dolphin support should we be unable to gather certain details I require to troubleshoot.

Could I get some technical advice from Dolphin, which I can share with Google Support.  They had asked me for these two items also:

Gather SMTP server logs from Dolphin showing it attempting to connect to Gmail
- A packet capture showing traffic from your web server attempting to send mail through Google Apps

Apart from that, I notice one thing more, now. I was not able to give colour coding to the text I posted in my article. There was no Colour coding button visible inside the Text input box. Is there any reason for that?

What did you enter for the mailer settings? Google Apps should be:

  • Enable SMTP Mailer: Checked
  • SMTP Authentication: Checked
  • SMTP Username: [Your Google Apps email address]
  • SMTP Password [Your password]
  • SMTP Server Name: smtp.gmail.com
  • SMTP Server Port: 465 (for SSL) or 587 (for TLS)
  • SMTP Server Secure Connection: SSL or TLS (use the associated port)
BoonEx Certified Host: Zarconia.net - Fully Supported Shared and Dedicated for Dolphin

Thank you,

Tried both. Not working. The consistent message is: SMTP Error: Could not connect to SMTP host.

A typo has been noticed. Not much of a concern, but just noting it: TLS is seen mentioned as TSL

If there is nothing more on Dolphin's side, may be the error is on Google Apps set up area. If there is any information that can be passed on to Google Support, Could you please give that?
