Safe to have 2 dolphin sites on one server?

Hi, i was curious if it is safe to have dolphin 6.1.6 running as the main website in the main directory, and have dolphin 7 running (with a different sql database of course) in a subfolder on the same server?

It is entirely safe to do so, as it is even needed to upgrade Dolphin 6 to Dolphin 7.

One more question, once dolphin 6.1.6 is migrated to dolphin 7 (7 is in a subfolder), can you just move dolphin 7 to the main directory without having problems?

sure just make sure you do adjust the file in inc/header.inc to reflect the changes

Ok perfect, thank you!

I have made the corrections in header.inc but when i moved the site to the public folder, everything works perfect except for the images (that i notice). The profile pictures show up, but they all have red x's over them that mean the pic is not found. What did i forget to do??

clean/clear cache should do it

don't forget to refresh your site a few times

Ok, i have cleared the cache and refreshed my site, and this is what i get...The pictures show up without the red x's, but almost any link (such as to play videos, view profiles, ect.) does not work and gives a 404 error from my server. The path is correct of course, and the header.inc is changed to the new location but its still having issues. What could be going wrong?

Did you make sure the .htaccess file was moved as well. 404 errors are normally caused when that file is missing.

In my file manager, i selected all of the files and folders that needed to be moved and selected the correct directory. However, i do not remember anything asking me to overwrite any files to be replaced. I bet that is my problem. How do i correct this? I also DO NOT have a backup of the .htaccess file. That was very stupid on my part.

try and re-upload the .htaccess file again

The .htaccess file is normally hidden, so unless your file manager shows all files(including hidden), it may have been missed.

Just upload a copy of the .htaccess file from the origional dolphin 7 zip file to the root folder of your D7 site.
